Tributes
  1. Well Victor we go back a long way, from the old grudge matches between Yallourn North vrs Newborough, working together at the SEC and just enjoying life around each other with our younger brother Ross B. we forged great memories in our lives we will never forget. This was despite the love of your life Pam not taking a particular liking to footballers from YN as was so often heard when we were pitted against each other in our footy days and Pam was very vocal, we laughed and thought it was great fun.
I will forever have you in my memories Victor as a Loving Husband and Father, an Absolute Gentleman, a True and Loyal Friend and a Scallywag with Great Witt. Will miss you mate. RIP

  6. My deepest sympathies to Pam, Vic, Angela, Andrew and Micheal and their respective families.
A super dooper bloke and family man. The word surrender was never in his vocabulary, whether on the footy field or his huge fight against the insidious infection he had.
A much respected and tough as they come adversary on the field and as much respected off the field as we become good friends over the years that ensued.
A pity we never got to have the day we talked about in his garage, with all our boys on the VB’s making them listen to OUR music.
Your humour will be missed by all, esp. Herald Sun readers.

Rest in Peace mate. The top of the tree when it comes to the best.

  17. Victor, kind, generous, loving, caring, funny, thoughtful, respectful, admired, loyal- just some words that pop straight to mind when I think of you. When we visited with you, you always asked how we were all doing with no concern for yourself. Always interested in what the grand kids were up to and asking questions about future endeavours, what their plans were when they grew up and then finishing our visits with “thank you for visiting me, love you” There will be a big empty space in the Berquez/Skinner lives and I’m sure you will never be far from our thoughts and minds. We all have one life and I’m really sad that you were dealt the hand you were, you didn’t deserve it but with true grace you dealt with it….rest peacefully now Victor (Grandad)

  18. Love & condolences to Pam, Victor, Angela, Michael & Andrew on the passing of Victor. He was such a beautiful, caring, kind man. My memories are of him pushing me & Victor jnr on the swings as kids to pouring me beers in the pub & then it became my turn to pour you beers. I used to love how you always walked out after a session & most of your mates were buckled & always said never drinking pot for pot with bloody Berquez again! Your laughter & jokes used to be so entertaining. The pranks you played on people in the pub are still talked about & no doubt will always be. No one else but you could get away with some of things you did, so funny! You were an absolute gentleman & will be dearly missed. Rest easy Victor. Love from Julie xox

  21. Sending all our love & condolences to Pam, Vic, Ange, Michael, Andrew & all your families on the loss of your beautiful & funny husband, dad & grandad. I don’t know how many times he scared me with that bloody plastic huntsman at the Newb pub, but I have no doubt it has contributed to my fear of them to this day!! He was the ultimate jokester. May your special memories continue to bring you comfort at this sad time. Rest peacefully Vic.

  23. I’m one of the lucky ones who was fortunate to be loved by Uncle Victor for my entire life.
I have the most beautiful memories of the many fun times we spent together since early childhood. The Berquez’s and Astbury families were (and still are) a tight unit.
I was in awe of you and your love for music – Mull of Kintyre, Wings & Do They Know it’s Christmas, Live Aid will be forever reminding me of my Uncle Vic.
I’m going to miss not being able to give you any more back scratches. I’m going to miss those random text messages and phone calls and the music videos you’d often email through to me. I’m going to miss those bouts of hysterical laughter when in the end none of us even knew what we were laughing at. I’m going to miss your jokes and that wicked sense of humour.
I’m so very grateful for the times we spent together throughout my entire life, particularly in more recent years. You are and always will be one of my absolute favourites.
Rest easy Uncle Buck. Love you, God Bless x x x
