Such a sad day when we heard of Don’s passing. Our love and thoughts are with you all.

Don has always been like an uncle to me as I grew up through those wonderful Difab years. Don and his family are part of our ‘Australian’ family – Uncle Don and Auntie Maureen to me. Don and my father, Alcide, achieved special things together at Difabs, whilst Maureen and my mother, Barbara, were the closest of friends, sharing many long afternoon teas together.

Don’s generous, active and kind soul have left a real lasting legacy on so many people and the community. His family should be so proud of him.

The recent long lunch Judy and I had with Don and Maureen is a special memory that we hold dearly.

Sincere condolences to you and your family on the sad passing of Don. Don was an inspirational leader who was known for “getting things done”! Don has had an everlasting community impact within the Latrobe Valley, and the broader Gippsland region. With our deepest sympathy from Darrell and Diane White and family.

Even today, it is difficult to comprehend what an incredible achievement it was to have the Morwell Falcons admitted to what was then the National Soccer League. Don was instrumental in this and his only motivation was for the enjoyment of the community, which he served in so many ways. I was a young journalist in the early 90s and later was a lecturer in sport marketing at University. I learn’t so much from Don about the relationship between sport and business.
