  3. Don, I’ll always be grateful to you and Naida for welcoming me into your family and home, and later extending that warmth to Mei as well. When my world was turned upside down, your love, care, and example helped me find my way again.

I’ve cherished every moment spent in your company, listening to stories of your boyhood, your journey to Australia with your father, and the incredible tales of your life—from shearing to tailoring and everything in between.

I remember the story of when you found an envelope of money, which turned out to be a teacher’s retirement fund. Your honesty led to piano lessons for you and your sister, though you quickly discovered the teacher’s harsh methods. We laughed about how you sometimes wished you had kept the money instead.

I wish I could be there to shake your hand one last time. You are one of life’s true gentlemen, and you will be deeply missed by all who love you, especially Mei and me.

It’s not goodbye; it’s until we meet again.

  9. Don was our nearest and dearest neighbour for 34 years. In fact,as we had no family when we moved to the Valley,he and Naida welcomed us into theirs.
Don was always there with some good advice or practical help as we learnt to live on the land and his positivity and happy demeanour rarely waivered.
He was a shining example of how to be a strong, dependable and caring man.Devoted to his family he was always willing to share his time and his expertise to help others.
We will miss his cheery “G’day”s and the sounds and sights of him working across the road and send love and condolences to Bron and all the family at this very sad time.

  14. Uncle Don to me from a very early age and later in life Don, I heard many stories of brave and dangerous deeds carried out on your bulldozer clearing land in the 1960’s.
I did not know at the time how your free spirit and “Can do ” motto would shine a light on how to lead my life. Thank you for all you have done for me and our family. Dearly loved I will miss you. Les.
