I had the pleasure of meeting Doug through my work, always so friendly, had many chats about life
A lovely gentleman that will be sadly missed
My thoughts are with Doug’s family

Doug, my dear friend and former Business Partner you are going to be missed so much.
I’m sorry I did not get to have a last coffee with you, I’m so sad about that.
Our phone calls were special and we always talked about a ‘million’ different topics and long… one even for 90 minutes!!!
We both laughed about that… most calls were LONG.
You are now back with your beloved Jill and your Maker…

Although years ago, I had the opportunity and pleasure to play music with Doug and also attend and learn at his Judo dojo. I only caught up with him on rare occasions but in all these past years I always found Doug to be a genuine, honest and true gentleman, one of the world’s good guys. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace Doug. Neil Hicks

I had the pleasure of seeing Doug every week at the osteo clinic. I was the receptionist and had many long chats with Doug about life, God and his ongoing health struggles.
He certainly made us laugh with some of his stories and he was the highlight of my week.
I’ll miss you buddy! Rest now. We will miss your smiling face.

My condolences to all the Murray family. Our mothers were in hospital together and Dougie and I were born on the same day 3/11/43. Dougie had a lovely warm personality and if we ever met it was a lovely catch up over the years. Rest peacefully Dougie.

For me he was my sensei Doug, he watched me grow up and was one of my coaches. I am forever grateful for the time and effort he has put into me and my judo. He came to my nationals to support me and my sister and I am so thankful. He also graded me recently and was such an honour to have him so involved in my passion.

I can vividly remember training with and competing with Doug in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Doug was very passionate about judo and fought a hard match. He was also on the Victorian Judo committee for a while and was very good at representing the interests of country and regional clubs. I will never forget the times that he drove his taxi down to train in Melbourne. Thank you Doug.

Always a pleasure to talk with you. A Champion Judo Expert. Crowd control with your Brother at the Thursday nite dances.. Respected by everyone who attended.. Loved your Music especially theory. Played bass and lead guitar. Gone but always remembered.

Doug was a man who left a lasting impression on anyone that met him, especially myself. He never did things in halves and this was evident with his commitment and dedication to Judo. I was 11 years old when i first starting under Doug’s guidance and expertise. Under his instruction I was fortunate to train and compete with success. as his drive and determination was a major factor in my own personal development. One early memory I can clearly recall is all of us kids loaded into his old Ford Galaxy and regularly travelling to Essendon Rowing Club for competitions.
A great man who will be surly missed.

Little did I know that my life would change forever after jumping into Doug Murray’s taxi one day in Traralgon. By the end of our journey he had recruited me to audition with his old band ACCENT and I was on my way… Doug sucked every ounce out of life and was a great joke and story teller..
I hope when we meet up again in heaven you have lined up some great musos and the jam can continue RIP my friend 💜

My condolences to the Murray Family, all his friends and relatives.
Met Doug driving taxi in Traralgon area. We had some great times and he was a true friend but I was deeply surprised at learning of his passing today. I was further surprised to read that his lovely wife Jill had also passed previously. Sorry but living in Gormandale you miss a lot of information. R.I.P. My friend.

The service was a beautiful tribute to Doug. I remember him fondly as my Judo Instructor.

We will miss our facetime chats with Doug. You were a great friend, fellow farmer, Australian dad and all round top bloke who was much respected. You (and Jill) were so supportive of us both and we will miss you. Praying for all your family at this sad time. From Chris and Rachel in the UK.
